Trainer Lindsay Schultz

Trainer. Horsewoman. Student of the game.

Trainer Lindsay Schultz opened Schultz Racing Stable in November 2021 and has quickly established herself as a rising talent in the U.S. Thoroughbred training ranks. Known as a detail-oriented horseperson with a strong eye for placement, Schultz focuses on improving horses and putting them in the right spots to succeed.

At a glance:

  • 100+ career wins in her first five seasons
  • Nearly $7 million in purse earnings
  • Strings at Oaklawn Park, Monmouth Park, Fair Grounds Racecourse and Keeneland

A foundation built on horsemanship

Schultz grew up riding hunter/jumpers in Connecticut before pursuing a combined equine and business education through the University of Louisville’s Equine Industry Program. While in college, attending the 2006 Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs sparked her commitment to a career in Thoroughbred racing.

After graduating, Schultz was selected for the Darley Flying Start management training program, a highly competitive, two-year international program. Flying Start took her to Ireland, England, the United States, Australia, and Dubai, where she gained hands-on experience across all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry.

Launching Schultz Racing Stable

Following Flying Start, Schultz spent six years as an assistant trainer to trainer Tom Proctor before managing Glen Hill Farm in Ocala for three years. In 2020, she further refined her skills under Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey, accepting an assistant role before launching her own stable.

Schultz officially opened Schultz Racing Stable in 2021. Early supporters included Ten Strike Racing, and their successes together included stakes winner Alex Joon and graded stakes-placed Yesternight.

Alex Joon was claimed by Schultz for Ten Strike and went on to win multiple races at higher levels — early proof of her ability to identify talent, improve horses, and place them effectively. Yesternight is indicative of Schultz’s expertise developing young horses; a yearling sale recruit, Yesternight was a debut maiden special weight winner at Oaklawn Park and placed in the G3 Dogwood S. and Listed Cathryn Sophia S.

As heard by the experts...

“Look at the process she went through to get to the point of being a trainer. She has as well-rounded an education in the game as you can get.”

Richard Migliore, Hall of Fame jockey, America’s Day at the Races, 12/27/2025

“She works really hard and knows her stuff. I’ve been very pleased and impressed and I am excited to be part of her burgeoning career.”

Marshall Gramm, TDN, 8/30/2022

“You can tell a lot about a trainer by the owners that give them horses. The owners that are winning, have been around the game—it’s a sign of confidence from knowledgeable folks. You know they must check all the boxes.”

Jonathon Kinchen, America’s Day at the Races, 12/27/2025
